Meet Taylor Bell | Boudoir Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Bell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to be my own boss, play by my own rules, but I never had much clarity about what to do with my life. After so much personal loss and trauma, I felt like there just had to be a way to create art to convey all of those emotions in a way that simultaneously empowers the women I work with. My mind is always bubbling with ideas about how to connect with and help others who “get it” so to speak

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I lived in New Jersey for a while between my times in Colorado and started taking photos of my nanny kids with my iPhone during the day to send to their parents. I would also take lots of pictures in New York when I got to visit from time to time. I started getting tons of compliments on my photos and have even had some framed in some of their homes! I was gifted my first “real” camera and lost count of the amount of shoots I did just for fun or practice over the years. When I moved back to Colorado during Covid, I decided to take advantage of the natural outdoor beauty by hosting outdoor shoots, both family style and boudoir. I fell in love with boudoir and the way it made my clients feel, so I decided to stick with it exclusively, but with a twist.
It has been years in the making, investing in bits of equipment here and there, challenging my skills in all types of environments. There have absolutely been times where I thought it would never amount to anything beyond a hobby, but I can’t imagine myself doing anything else! I have fallen in love with boudoir; the empowerment, the experience, the pampering. Having been widowed and seen the deepest depths of the darkness myself, it means even more when it becomes a part of your journey, wherever on it you may be. I want women to be able to feel empowered on their darkest days.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To be honest, I’m still relatively new to the area and don’t know a ton. However, I adore Toby’s Cajun food truck and will follow them anywhere! Another favorite for me is the Brutal Poodle, which has some of the best wings I’ve ever had. I really enjoyed the Puff, Pass, Paint class hosted by Colorado Cannabis Tours. Hint: they’re right next door to the Brutal Poodle for an easy, fun date night!
Some other things I’ve really enjoyed are the butterfly pavilion, the zoo in the springs, and a good ole drive in the mountains – I’m always completely awestruck by their beauty. If you’re interested in driving for a good while, Glenwood Springs has a super cool mountain top theme park. On the way there, stop by White House Pizza in Carbondale for the best spinach dip you’ve ever had in your life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh man, there are just so many! Well first of all, I couldn’t be where I am today without the love, support, and encouragement of my loved ones. My in-laws from both my late husband and current husband, my closest friends and family, my sweet husband, and honestly so many of the wonderful women I’ve gotten to work with so far. I’ve made so many real local connections and they all deserve the very best in life!
