We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Frazier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking… what a fun topic! I’m a huge risk taker, but in the aspect of if I’m going to risk this – make the jump – take the leap – I’m going 100% all in. Let me tell you a story – I went to college to be an educator. I taught 2nd grade at an elementary school in Las Vegas for two years, and coached varsity softball. I liked what I did. I loved my kids. I loved coaching. But I never felt content because in my heart, I knew that this wasn’t where I was supposed to be…. so I pivoted. The floral / wedding world has always been such a huge passion of mine. That’s where I thrive… that’s where I’m happy. So I said goodbye to my education career and went 110% in the direction of chasing my dreams. Was it risky? ABSOLUTELY. But in my heart I knew it would be worth it. In October, one of my dearest friends and someone who has inspired me in the floral industry asked me if I wanted to link up and be business partners. It totally caught me off guard, but THIS IS WHAT I HAD BEEN PRAYING FOR. I knew that taking the risk and quitting my CAREER… the profession I went to college for… would pay off. Some way. Some how. In October, I agreed to be business partners with Signe Jones, and we launched our business in January 2021 – Bustle + Bloom.
I say this all the time – to anyone that asks – I feel like I”m 100% absolutely where I”m supposed to be. Was it challenging? Heck yeah. But was it worth it? Absolutely. If I wouldn’t have taken the risk, and chased what my heart knew it needed, I wouldn’t be here right now. I’ve learned that taking risks shows leadership. I’m not really one to run with the pack, but to pave my own path. I’ve always been that way.
I’m here to tell you that you don’t achieve your dreams by always playing it safe… but you never know what chasing your dreams could lead to… maybe something that you never even would have considered yourself. It’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to be unsure, but whatever you do, go with 100% confidence because it will work out one way or another, and it might just be the best decision you ever made for yourself.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m an entrepreneur! How crazy does that sound? I’m co-owner of a floral and event design company called Bustle & Bloom! We launched our business in January of 2021, and it’s been crazy ever since! Launching this business was fun…. I have so much passion for the industry, that I honestly feel like I’m living out my dreams. I have an amazing business partner, Signe Jones, and we complement each other really well. She’s been in the industry for 14 years within the Vail Valley, and I’ve been freelancing for 8 years. We worked together for 6 years, and together we kind of just make the magic happen!
There has definitely been challenges, as in anything! Coming off of Covid, you never really know what to expect. It’s almost like we’re pushing 2 wedding season into one, with the upcoming season! Through all of that though, we’ve learned how important communication is within our business, the lovely wedding planners we get to work hand-in-hand with, and of course our clients. This is all so new to every single one of us, but together, we’ve made it successful! We’re so excited for the upcoming wedding season.
Bustle & Bloom is the product of two people who honestly have so much passion for the industry. The fact that we get to work with couples to make their big day, so special, is why we do what we do. No event is too big, or too small… we’re just here to help YOU! Not only do we specialize in weddings, we also do birthday parties, corporate events, holiday parties… you name it! We’re there to help you!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh my goodness…. Denver is such a FUN place to be. So I am new resident to the area, but I’ve been traveling to the city for years. If my bestie was visiting, we would definitely have to hit up Happy Camper on a Friday night! The vibes that restaurant brings to the city, is like no other!
Let’s be honest… Saturday there would probably be a wedding! We could head up the mountain, deliver a wedding, tackle a hanging installation, and make the whole venue pretty with a touch of Bustle & Bloom, but that wouldn’t be an all day thing… and then enjoy Vail! The Colorado Mountains are breathtaking, and any time spent up there, is a total win.
Sunday would consist of brunch around Dairy block, and cruising around downtown… checking it all out! I enjoy riding the Bird scooters around and just site seeing…. maybe checking out some rooftop bars, and drinking frose! And not to mention… the views of the Rocky Mountains is breathtaking!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh my goodness… where do I start? There’s always so many people to thank for getting you to where you are today. But I have to start with Signe Jones. She’s my business partner, and the one that got me to where I am today. She’s the gal who always tells me to say ‘yes’ to opportunity, and to never stop chasing my dreams. She’s the reason I’m here, in Colorado! I truly would be lost without her. I think that she say something in me, that I didn’t know I had…. so Sig, thank you for always believing in me and always supporting me! The best part is… we’re just getting started.
Also, there’s a book that inspired me so much to own the person I am, and the path I wanted to take in life as an entrepreneur. It’s called Own Your Everyday by Jordan Lee Dooley. That book changed my whole outlook on life. There’s a quote in there that says… “Too many of us are not living our dreams, because we’re living our fears.” and that really stuck with me. The book is absolutely wonderful, and I think it should be a non-negotiable for everyone to read.
