Meet Tess Gallegos

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tess Gallegos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tess, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Before opening Holistica on my own, I had little work-life balance. When my son was a baby I worked long hours, struggled to find day care and missed out on some precious moments. That is why my goal was to have my own practice by the time he entered kindergarten. Having my own practice, I made my own hours, scheduled around field trips and school pick up. Having my own business has allowed me to have the freedom in my schedule to be a more present parent, plus, I was no longer giving half of my paycheck to my employer!

What should our readers know about your business?
Holistica feels like a little spa in a sweet private practice setting. I offer multiple modalities of skincare and massage and with 25 years of practice, I have plenty of tools under my belt.
Building a practice is one of the most difficult things that I have ever done. Trusting that I would build a strong clientele was hard at times and took lots of patience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love my city and enjoy showing people around! If my best friend was visiting, we would start with a facial and massage at Holistica of course, followed by lunch at Leven Deli (best sandwiches in Denver) We would hit Tennyson street for a stroll and some shopping at Sara O Jewelry followed by a walk or bike ride around Sloan’s lake. Dinner downtown at The Nikel and a show at the DCPA.
My other favorite spots include Meadowsweet Gifts and Wellness for herbal medicine and gifts, Champagne Tiger for brunch and Tapas at Barcelona followed by drinks at Dead and Co. I love music shows at Mission Ballroom and The Bluebird Theatre.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents encouraged me to follow my dreams by supporting my decision to leave traditional college and go study esthetics and massage. They were my biggest cheerleaders when I started my own business and I think that their belief in me has gotten me to where I am today. My Mom is still my biggest supporter and I still go to her with questions and ideas.
