We had the good fortune of connecting with Thomas Elias Lockhart III and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thomas Elias, how do you think about risk?
The risk that I took four years ago was to believe in myself enough to leave my job of 8 1/2 years to become a full time Fine Artist. If you stay in the should of would of stage in your life, you will never know or find out your greatest potential.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would consider myself a Renaissance artist. I don’t like to be placed in a box as a normal artist. I Love art, so in my world I can’t be closed minded about a style. I am a creative with a wild imagination that believes art is in all colors and places. It’s not one race or limited to boundaries. I believe that I am set apart from others, just because I am myself. No one can paint like me better than me. In my art career thus far I am most proud of a commission art I Created for The Mogul Tyler Perry for his 50th birthday in 2019. I also got to deliver it to him and explain it. I am excited that the sky is just the breaking point where I believe my gifts will go. I am creating art foe people all over the world now. I am so very thankful and humbled. I have gotten to where I am professionally, because I grinned, put in the work, networked, prayed, gave thanks to God and helped and encouraged others. Going after your goals is never easy. If it were we would have a world full of immensely successful people. You have to put forth the effort…you just have to try. The lessons that I learned along the way begins with the constant growth you need to place on yourself. You have to continue to learn and gain knowledge. Then you have to put what you learned to work. You can go out and get a job, but that doesn’t defined you. You are much greater than what someone else says about you. Life is a journey and a marathon that has seasons in it. What I want the world to know about my brand is, when you view my artwork, I want you to leave better than when you came.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In the state of Colorado were I live, there are a lot of things to do. We would go to the Garden of the gods, maybe 16 street mall or the sand dines and than to see the ruins. We would just find new mom and pop restaurants and try new foods. We would visit some of my artist friends and hang out in the park. Go to the art museums and check out the nature and Science exhibitions.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my Beautiful wife. She has supported me from the beginning. I am so thankful for her.
