We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracy Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tracy, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The answer to this question goes all the way back to my childhood, when I discovered as young as 4 that I had a talent and an aptitude to draw really well. With encouragement from my parents and early teachers I just focused a huge amount of my time always drawing and eventually painting. So by the time I got to my sophomore year in high school, I knew I wanted to major in art. Luckily, my Dad insisted I get a business minor as well. And now for the past 35 years, art has been my full time career. And I’m never tired of it, I love what I do!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It looks easy now! But honestly it has been a roller coaster ride at times! When you are self employed be prepared for good months as well as bad months and make sure you cover your bases. I believe my ability to say YES to many opportunities in the beginning that were put in front of me has helped me get here. Get out of your studio, get out of your comfort zone,. Be a mouthpiece in your community. Network, network, network! I have an instantly recognizable style that is now often copied. But my branding through licensing and international sales has been really strong and brought many new clients from all over the world because they want that Tracy Miller pet portrait and what I bring to that which is joy, happiness and color all while capturing your pet’s very essence and personality.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, this will give away my age but…..I would take people to some of my fave restaurants around town that have in Denver forever. I’m a mexican food nut and The South near Hampden and Santa Fe has a specialty called the Quesorito, it’s the best! I recommend going to the gallery that reps me, Westward Gallery on Tennyson street and enjoy the superb art that the owner has curated and then go on over across the street to Parisi for wine and conversation .

For epic views of the front range head west and go visit Buffalo Bills Grave, a short drive above Golden where afterwards you can tour the Coors brewing plant and grab lunch at the Grand Hotel and eat outside above the river or go to Atomic Burger which has the best burgers and fries in the metro area.

Also a visit to the zoo and botanic gardens are a must!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my parents first and foremost for their early and ongoing support of my talent. They never discouraged me. All the art teachers I had going through school as well especially Mr. Traunstrom who taught at Bear Creek High School in Lakewood. Also, my husband Roger, who has been by my side for 35 years always supporting me to be the best that I can be and never say the words, I can’t.
I can’t say enough about following the principles of Napoleon Hill who wrote, Think and Grow Rich over a century ago. I apply success principles every day into what I do to that I learned from that book and a Mastermind Group I participate in.
