We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Skinner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the brand was shifting our focus towards community first. I chose to Lean into my intuitive space to find new ways to connect and curate experiences and offerings that allowed women to feel supported where they are in the journey and to be seen was vital. We then took it next level with a passionate group of women dedicated to personal and professional growth. We shared the vision and became excellent at co-creating and activating our collaborations for increased impact.

Lastly, the brand is always evolving because we are. Learning, Listening, and leaving our mark wherever we go.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It took me years to accept myself as a creative and then to transform that into a business was another challenge, but once I did own it, everything began to make sense and to align. My creativity is shared through my ability to connect people and ideas/concepts in order to make massive impact and keep things moving in a positive direction for all involved.
Through building Women Making Waves, I learned how to hone in on my curation and design of experiences and adventures as ways to amplify missions and bring people together from all walks of life and backgrounds.

To all my creatives and #soulprenuers out there, the journey can feel lonely. I often wondered if people would pay attention and buy into my ideas and what I realized was that being me and sharing my story authentically allowed for a deeper connection with my community and with the people I chose to serve. I continued to build resilience by finding ways to share my knowledge, my experience, and my concepts with those who would listen. I also continually put myself out of my comfort zone, experimented, and tried new things so that I could understand what it felt like and be able to support others through it.

I want whomever is reading this to know that the journey is not a straight line. I am often looking ahead, creating, but have to reconnect to my purpose and my why. Like a gut check to see that I am on track. I have learned to celebrate all the wins and when there is a challenge, I call on my community for support. I have found courage to build the confidence necessary to succeed on my terms.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me, it’s all about the vibe and how you set the tone. I love to arrive and let them settle in. Check out a local pub or brewery to get a feel for the center hub of the city. The next day would be a local breakfast spot like Fox run cafe then head to the art scene at the museum and walk around for the day with a nice dinner. The other days I would spend exploring. Garden of the Gods to hike around and take in the natural beauty. We would have to hit up unique activities like MEOW wolf to be transported and immersed in art and wonder. Larimer square and other historic sites are on the list and then finding the local eateries that have unique dishes and share the local flavor of up and coming chefs. I would not want to miss an opportunity to be at red rocks for a show if the timing was right.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout to my original team. Trish McCormick, Nicki Nysven, and Grace Tucker who have been #makingwaves with us since the beginning and who continue to show up always and in all-ways.
