We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Grissom and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At first, I was more focused on landing a software developer job right after college. However I had a divine experience in which I felt led to start a web agency. At first I was afraid to start my own business because it was something outside of my comfort zone , and I didn’t know how I would be able to accomplish such a daunting feat. The more I thought about it, meditated, and consulted other entrepreneurs in my network of friends and associates, I finally started to build some confidence in myself, and I began to have the faith that I could do it.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
DesignNGlory is a web agency that is designed to be a one stop shop for small to mid size businesses that offers web design services, digital marketing, graphic design, and so much more. Our purpose is to help establish an online presence for small businesses and help maintain their platforms while building a close relationship and bringing the success they are looking for. I believe what sets us apart from other web agencies is the authentic relationships we seek to establish with our clients through learning about their goals and their plans for the their company, eating great food with them while learning who they are as individuals, and getting them connected to other business owners in our professional network who can one day help them with specific needs.
By day I work as a software developer and at night I grow my business (Batman life), so this journey hasn’t been easy at all. From making bad business decisions early on to trying to grow faster than what we were capable of maintaining. There have been many bumps in the road along the way. The biggest life changing action I took in my life as an entrepreneur was changing how I thought about myself, my situation, and learning to focus on success in everything I do. In order to change my mindset, I started to read books and listen to podcasts about improving yourself and building successful daily habits. I place myself on a daily schedule that starts at 5:00 am where I hit the gym, listen to a book or podcast to teach me something new that I can apply in my life, and finally pray to God for direction. I make sure to take care of my body, soul, and spirit every day.
What I learned over the time that I have been growing DesignNGlory is the importance of knowing your purpose and vision. You can’t have a purpose if you don’t have a vision. I learned once I caught my vision for my life that I would be able to know where I wanted to land in the future. I wrote my vision down and started to walk towards my purpose, Now I know what I was created to do for this part of my life, and I am focusing and working as hard as I can to achieve my goals and continue to improve myself for the next chapter in my life.

I want to give a shout out to the Lord for allowing all of this to happen, and my great and beautiful friend Jacien Bass for helping me with my marketing efforts, and bringing this opportunity to me. Most of all, my awesome team here at DesignNGlory for making all the magic happen!
