We had the good fortune of connecting with Vasiliki Bieber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vasiliki, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
Parenting is one of the most difficult things I have ever done. Seriously. You can read books, watch movies and docuseries, you can talk to your friends, family, and even co-workers and you still worry that you’re somehow going to mess up your kids; and you question everything. A few things I learned about parenting in 2020, while our business was sort of ‘on-hold’ due to the pandemic, was from listening to an ungodly amount of true-crime podcasts (queue the laughter here). I know, I know – this already sounds ridiculous, even as I am sitting here typing it all out. One consistent thing I heard was how so many people, featured on these shows, started out as innocent, unaffected little humans. The way we treat other people, especially the way we treat children, can have long-term effects on the way they process information and how they grow emotionally. As children grow, they come more and more autonomous – they develop their own opinions while still asking a ton of questions. As my kids are getting older, I have decided to allow them a bigger say in the things that they do and I spend A LOT more time listening to them and a lot less time talking at them. I think we can all be better listeners.
What should our readers know about your business?
My husband, Jacob, and I own Rockstar Rentals, LLC, a premier boutique audio, lighting, and A/V equipment rental company and event-production team located in Centennial, Colorado – just a few miles south of Denver. Over the years, we have worked with a variety of bands, DJs, event planners, corporations, and individuals. We have rented our equipment and décor to small, home-based events, large weddings, and even full-scale A/V events.
We do as much as we can, in-house, and work directly with each client (or, in many cases, event planners) to ascertain needs, wants, and expectations for all the rentals products and services we provide. Aside from that, we also pride ourselves the DIY aspects of our businesses. All of our clients have budgets and many of those budgets include, for example, audio/sound needs but may not include a full team to do set-ups and strikes. Our showroom is equipped so that folks who are renting audio equipment can get a full walk-through of the set-up/process and so that they maybe have all their questions addressed. We don’t want clients walking out of the store confused and anxious. We are also available, via phone to address questions and concerns and no additional charge.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Jacob and I tend to be homebodies since Rockstar Rentals requires us to be out, active, and ready at various venues all over Colorado. We have done set-ups in the mountains of Winter Park and Arapahoe Basin, Downtown Denver, Colorado Springs, Boulder, and Fort Collins. When you spend workdays, including most weekends, setting up events and weddings across the state, you don’t very much feel like doing any of that on your time off. That being said, The Museum of Nature and Science, in Denver, is a really great place to visit; currently, they have an entire section dedicated to the evolution of the guitar. Jacob, our CEO at Rockstar Rentals, is also a musician and we both appreciate the educational aspects that the museum offers.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister, Ellie Zafiris, has been instrumental in my life. Our mom died when we were teens and seeing how our paths have diverged, and then come back together, has been awe-inspiring. Ellie is a gem, and a new mom, who has blossomed over the past few years. I love her to pieces.
