We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Peterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Veronica, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own fitness brand is something that I have thought about for years! I’ve been teaching group fitness in Denver for over 8 years now and am incredibly blessed to be apart of such an amazing community. When Covid hit a couple years ago, like many people, I started wondering what the comeback of the group fitness industry would mean for my future. During that time, I decided to expand my knowledge and earn my NASM-CPT license. After that, I decided that there was no reason to wait or hold back and I would go ‘full throttle’ into starting my own personal + small group training business called Body By V, It was something that I had gone over time and time again and changed the idea multiple times in my head. But if we’ve learned anything over the last few years, its that we don’t have time to wait and put things that your passionate about off until you feel more ready. Do it now!!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It is very important to me to create a space where everyone feels seen, supported and empowered. It is something that I make sure to bring into every group fitness class I teach as well as my Body By V personal + small group training sessions. One of my favorite things about creating my own brand is being able to curate the entire experience – it’s the music, the energy, the overall vibe. Life can be really hard and heavy so whenever I get the chance to make it a little lighter for someone, I’ll take it.

I think that the hardest part (which has also been the biggest lesson) is not worrying about what other people think. I’ve struggled with this for as long as I can remember. It’s something I have personally worked on and I have gotten much better about staying in my own lane and being true to who I am – but I’m human, it’s still hard! The thing is, there is always going to be someone who doesn’t vibe with you or necessarily love what you have to offer and THAT IS OK. Because the people who do are the ones that you were always meant to have along on your journey. TRUST THAT. That’s the other big lesson that goes hand in hand with the first, Trust your process. Trust your timing. Trust yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My top two fave restaurants to take my out-of-town besties to are: My Neighbor Felix for a spicy marg, a fun vibe, and nachos. Barcelona Wine Bar for some delicious wine, tapas, and my favorite olive oil cake for dessert. I love walking around Rino and looking at all of the unique art. I also love to pop into all the cute shops – Our Exercise Store (OXB – a sweat proof jewelry line) is my all time favorite. One of my favorite things to do in the morning is grab some coffee from Wash Perk Cafè and walk around Wash Park. After that I like to go take a workout class at either SoulCycle or Solidcore. I teach for both so I might be a little biased 🙂 Like literally every single person in Denver, I am obsessed with Red Rocks and try to get to as many concerts as I can. When it is nice out, my favorite hike (close to Denver) is up Deer Creek Canyon. There is a beautiful meadow at the very top that I like to hang out before coming back down.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my husband, Jonny. He has without a doubt been my biggest supporter and cheerleader throughout my entire career. He was the one who pushed me to start Body By V even when I was still on the fence about it. He has always been so excited and encouraging about every single thing I have done and has helped me recognize and tap in to so much of my potential. Even on the hardest days when I feel like I am completely losing it, he is there to not only hear me out but also ground me and help me move forward. I always feel seen, heard and loved. He dreams big with me and pushes me to make those dreams a reality. Love you, babe!
