We had the good fortune of connecting with Blair Horton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blair, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When you are an entrepreneur, it is so easy to work ALL THE TIME, especially when you are extremely passionate about your work. In the beginning, I had a really hard time setting boundaries and let my job be my life. However, after a few years, I was able to create more boundaries for myself and find a LOT more balance!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a holistic nutrition consultant with a focus on women’s hormonal cycles and empowerment. I am most excited about the book that I wrote called The Goddess Guide that I sell as an e-book. I photographed, wrote, edited, and designed the entire book myself, so it was a huge accomplishment for me. But, most importantly, I believe it’s a resource that will be so helpful to women. It gives them access to the knowledge I use with my clients in a much more affordable package!
Along the way, I have learned that as I evolve, so does my business, and that is okay! In fact, it’s important to evolve, grow, and change along the way, even if that leads to more work and challenges in the short term.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, we would hit some of my favorite hikes with the best views. Sugarloaf is at the top of this list because it has the most bang for your buck, with insane views and a shorter hike that is perfect if you aren’t used to the elevation. It is also close to Boulder, so we could hit up Wonder Press after for a juice and avocado toast before exploring Pearl St! The RiNo area of Denver is also one of my favorites, for delicious restaurants, fun bars, and unique stores. We would definitely spend a lot of time on Larimer St and find ourselves at Denver Central Market, Our Exercise Brand Store, Honey Elixir Bar, Improper City, and Meadowlark! For the best rooftop bar, we would to the The Red Barber and for other amazing views we would head into LoHi for dinner or lunch at Avanti!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are quite a few people who deserve recognition for where I am in life. The number one person would actually be my father because he had a heart attack when I was in elementary school. This led our family down a path of wellness that sparked my interest in disease prevention from a young age. During my career, my biggest inspiration has been Dr. Jolene Brighton. My nutrition practice has transformed throughout the years and Dr. Jolene Brighton was a huge inspiration for me as I moved more towards working with women and focusing on hormonal health.
