We had the good fortune of connecting with Vicki Maunz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vicki, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Right now my mantra is “Fortune sides with him who dares.” I think there are a lot of lives left unlived because of fear of failure. My greatest fear is not living my life to the fullest and this quote reminds me to step out of my comfort zone and push myself towards my dreams everyday.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started off in the jewelry industry as a diamond specialist on the wholesale side of things. I found out very quickly that style of work didn’t suit me, but it did introduce me to the jewelry world which I wasn’t ready to leave. I have worked in retail ever since and love the diversity it brings to my day-to-day work life. I am now managing Metalmark Fine Jewelry’s Denver store and sell a curated selection of vintage jewelry via my own venture, Restless Bones. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned thus far is to let go of preconceived visions of where your life and career will take you. The vision for yourself is most likely confining anyway, so detach from expectations and grow toward something greater. I am happiest when working to create someone’s dream piece and out scouting for my next vintage treasure. I would love to be your go-to for all things jewelry! Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to my killer girl gang in Denver. I am always incredibly inspired to see each of them pursue their passions so fiercely. Danielle Maphies at her many ventures (Antiqueontology, Marigolds Farmhouse Funk and Junk, Rising Moon Trading Company), Alexis Barreiro: graphic designer and artist @abcd_2010, Stormy Good: Mountain Mama Natural Foods, Emily Christiansen: artist @emilychristiansenart, and Claudia Scharnikow: badass off-roading babe @spiritroamer
