We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Kander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to provide a fun and safe space for people to come with their dogs and learn a new activity that they can do together and not have to worry about being judged, limited or turned away. I want to provide more options in dog sports for everyone to enjoy with their dog if they are not able to do the standard sports of agility or competitive obedience.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Beyond Elevation Dog Sports and Dog Training, we love all dogs and their humans! Through passion, kindness and understanding we strive to provide the dog owners of Colorado a fun place to train with their dogs and be apart of a community that cares.

Our students are the heart of our business. Helping build strong relationships and connection between a dog and their owner is our ultimate goal. We want to provide activities for every team out their and not limit their possibilities of greatness and fun together.

Every team is different and we will work with each team to find the best way to motivate and strengthen the relationship, communication and training skills. We offer the well known sports like agility and competitive obedience, but we also offer sports like nose work, treibball and barnhunt for teams who would like to play but do not want to participate in those traditional sports.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start with breakfast at Snooze with a crab cake benedict and then we would have a fun day at the Botanical Gardens and Zoo. Lunch would be a local Pho place and then to Meow Wolf before Dinner at home. Estes Park would be on the list for the downtown shopping, Stanley Hotel tour and a hike with our dogs to geocache. Another day either Glenwood Springs or Idaho springs for an Airbnb with our dogs and the hot springs, visiting the local breakfast and lunch spots to try something new, and then grilling at the house. Paddle Boarding on a local lake and having a picnic would also be a very fun activity to add.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a very supportive Significant Other that sees how passionate I am about dog sports and is emotionally supportive of that and helps me run it when possible. But for the most part I have independently achieved my dream on my own. I have learned everything I cant from amazing trainers like Leslie Mcdevitt, I have attended in-person learning opportunities, I have set-up and ran my business and even financially supported it on my own. There hasn’t been a lot of support for me historically and I didn’t want that to stop me from reaching my goal, even when others actively try to bring me down.
