Meet Walter Blunt | Men’s Fashion Consultant & Social Impact Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Walter Blunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Walter, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
How to Win Friends and Influence People has had a significant impact on the way I approach my personal and professional life. Learning some of the principles and psychology behind interacting with others and getting things done encouraged me to carry myself differently and understand that everyone has a role to play, and sometimes, people may have another way of accomplishing the task. At the core, we all want the same thing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
At my fifth-grade graduation, the school presented the first-ever Artist of the Year award. I couldn’t believe they chose my work, which was a collage of a basketball hoop. At that point, I knew I had a talent for creating things. As I got older, my interests shifted to playing sports. Now, to bring that full circle, when I left the Air Force, I got a job at Lids Sports Group as a custom embroidery specialist, where I could combine my passion for creating things with the sports apparel business. Then COVID-19 happened, and the company furloughed its employees for a couple of months. At that time, a gig came out to make masks for a local art center, and I borrowed a sewing machine from my neighbor and hopped on YouTube to learn. A few weeks later, I decided to start my brand, Thinking Out Loud, where I could support local businesses by creating promotional products. Now, Thinking Out Loud has shifted its focus to the wedding industry, specializing in wedding styling for grooms and their guests. I want the world to know that your superpower is something you do easily that may be difficult for others. If you figure that out, you can start living in your purpose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here are some of my favorite spots in the city; we’d have to get pizza at Hops & Pie. Another of my favorite spots to hang out is Clear Creek in Golden, where you can tube or visit the Coors brewery tour. In the summertime, going to a Rockies game and getting oysters at Jax Fish House. I enjoy hiking at Green Mountain or North Table. Go shopping in Cherry Creek for the day. Catch a concert at Red Rocks. Those are my favorite spots in the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my wife for supporting my dreams and goals. We took a leap of faith, packed our car up, and moved our life to Colorado, away from all our friends and family, because we had a vision for the way we wanted our life to look. It has turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
