We had the good fortune of connecting with William Stuart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi William, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Starting a business comes with a list of challenges which can feel daunting. This list is always in the back of your head every step of the way. Do you have enough capital? Where should we be spending our money? How to manage growth without hurting other aspects of the business? But the habits that have helped me throughout the process have been thinking about all of these day to day questions as opportunities instead of issues. Keeping a positive outlook day to day because all start ups have the same issues but these are good issues that will only make you stronger as a leader/ business owner.

What should our readers know about your business?
Colorado Sake Co. is one of ten sake breweries in the nation which leaves us a lot of opportunity as well as a lot of headaches trying to concur a new industry. We have been mostly self funded to this point which has been instrument in assisting us to learn how to be creative with money. It made us take a step back to think of new ways we could be innovative with this classic beverage. We started this company in a 800 sq ft operation and now we are almost at 12,000 sq ft. This growth has been great but with growth there are plenty of missteps along the way

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite restaurants in denver is watercourse. This restaurant is 100% vegan and some of the best food in town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There has been many individuals that have helped get us to the place we are today. One in particular is a owner of a local Colorado winery that helped us every step of the way. When you first start out asking for advise can be challenging for people because pride can get into the way. Being a start up asking for help with difficul.t decisions will only help you process the situation in a different light.
