We had the good fortune of connecting with Saloni Doshi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Saloni, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I am a mom of three young kid and run EcoEnclose with my husband and it is incredibly easy to lose any sense of balance. I used to think about EcoEnclose while I was with my kids and talk constantly about the business with my husband over the weekends. While I can’t build a life where work fits neatly into the day and doesn’t bleed into my nights and weekends, I have found better balance over time. Specifically, I’ve found there are two steps I need to take.

The first is effective planning. At the beginning of every week, I set clear priorities for myself and a plan for each day. This includes everything from critical EcoEnclose priorities to the activities I plan to do with the kids after school. It sounds like a small thing, but this level of planning enables me to be better at the second step of achieving balance.

That second thing is to be fully present in the moment I’m in. Mindfulness doesn’t come easily or naturally to me, so this is certainly a mindset that takes a lot of practice! When I’m at the warehouse, I try to be fully focused and working purposefully. When I’m with my family, I try to avoid my phone completely and engross myself in what we are doing together.

While this isn’t necessarily “balance”, it has worked beautifully for me, giving me a way to enjoy my family and my job in the fullest way possible.

What should our readers know about your business?
EcoEnclose is a leading provider of eco-friendly shipping supplies. We work with the world’s most progressive and earth conscious commerce brands, helping them package their orders in ways they can be proud of. We have invested heavily in research and development of packaging that meets our Sustainability Framework, and these investments have led to some innovations we are so proud of. For example: a Zero Waste Label line which features a release liner that is recycled and curbside recyclable and a 100% recycled poly mailer made with 50% post-consumer waste. Even more than our sustainability progress (which I am tremendously excited about!), I really love the team we have built at EcoEnclose – everyone from our warehouse staff to our customer support team to our business development department is passionate about the planet and the companies we have the privilege of serving.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First I’d take them on the Four Pass Loop (which starts at Maroon Bells in Aspen), which is an incredible three day backpacking trip. Then I’d head back to the front range and go to a concert at Red Rocks. I’d do a day of mountain biking at Centennial Cone. And finally, I’d rent a Pontoon Boat for a day of boating on Lake Dillon.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband and co-worker, Kyle Wente, has helped us jump into experiences (like quitting our jobs and buying a tiny business we were passionate about) that scare me but thrill me and help make this life an adventure worth living.
