We had the good fortune of connecting with Yeshim Harlow and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yeshim, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My goal was to provide exceptional care for seniors and to educate my community.
What should our readers know about your business?
It became clear to me as I observed our treatment of seniors in our society and healthcare. I knew it needed to be changed in huge ways and what could I do. I embarked on my business journey to provide care with dignity. I would like to think that what sets my business apart from others is, I keep it small with no cooperate influence. The mom and pop feel. My staff is also trained in a variety of things including end of life doula care. We do it all and stay with our clients for years as we build trust caring for them in all aspects. I am proud to be able to provide this kind of care for our local seniors, to be able to provide support for their families and to whomever has questions or concerns. It was very stressful to not be able to provide any in person care during covid, especially because it was so needed and essential. We were willing to put on the proper equipment and risk our health to continue to serve but was not allowed . This was our biggest challenge and what would we do. So we decided to pair up with local resources and box food and distribute to local seniors. We also provided support by reaching out to seniors and their families by zoom or face time and providing grief support and essential needs. We needed to keep focusing on our work and support each other as all of our lives changed. We really learned how to make our work better by turning towards suffering and we would like to continue helping people to embrace community with empathy and compassion ,
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being an outdoors person, I would have to suggest a camping trip in the Indian Peaks mountain range. Spending a few days camping will make you dirty so the next stop would be to a hot springs resort trip to Glenwood Springs and stay a couple of nights eating at the local restaurants and some nice hikes. I meet interesting people on hiking trails and dog parks . My favorite places are the mountains on trails seeing wildlife or mountain ranges. Rock formations are amazing here. Hovenweep is a beautiful park on the border of Utah and Colorado.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My grandfather who raised me from a wheelchair and gave me the tools to become what I am today. My father who is always supportive and loving and to my amazing boyfriend who believes in me and encourages me to be a better person.
