We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Schwindt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zach, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I used to be big on organizing time for work and time for rest. I feel like everything is much more chaotic now, but not in a bad way. I think that is the natural cycle of growth. I have grown a lot in 2020, both personally and professionally, and I would like to continue this growth into 2021, but I feel as if it’s time to step back and put some more effective systems into place so I know things remain sustainable. I am much more focused on building a sustainable workflow than learning how to balance work and rest.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Origin Vanilla is an all-natural flavoring company working directly with growers across the world. We have partnered with various independent farmers, cooperatives, and other vanilla-producing entities from who we purchase our raw materials from. We later create value-added flavoring products with vanilla beans, such as powders, liquids, and pastes. We have a very unique position in the market as we are able to see our vanilla go from green beans on a vine on the other side of the planet, so a delicious cake on someone’s birthday.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My support team at Smirk’s has been a huge help. Donny, Nick, and the rest of the team at Smirk’s have allowed me to dig deeper into the food industry and pick up knowledge that I could have never learned on my own. I’m very proud to be a part of such a great and fast-growing food company
