We had the good fortune of connecting with Zeal Collective and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zeal Collective, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson that we have learned from this journey has been the lesson of humility. Particularly in the context of working as a team. Each of us has different talents and experiences; if we are honest, we all came to the table with different ideas of how to best execute the vision we were given. Learning to lean into one another’s gifts and value each other’s experiences has been a great lesson.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets us apart from others is a heart for prayer and obedience to the Lord. It’s that simple. The creativity, significant events, etc., will come, but it’s always secondary and more of a byproduct than our priority. We are most excited about seeing young adults’ lives transformed, whether just a 1-degree difference or a whole 180. We’re all on a journey to become more like Him; getting to do that together is everything.

It was not easy by any means to get to where we are, and we believe we’ve barely scratched the surface of the vision God has given us. Professionally, our team has sought out education and training in their specific giftings. For example, Pastor James sought out a master’s degree in theology, and Becca sought out a degree in communication. Each of us are constantly seeking out training in our lanes. Having the correct heart posture is always challenging when starting a ministry from the ground up. There’s a battle of the extremes. One moment you want to give in to discouragement, and the next, you’re tempted to take YOUR wins instead of acknowledging God’s hand on them. We’ve had to learn how to be vulnerable as a team because our dynamic, good or bad, flows to our ministry.

Zeal Collective exists to encounter God & build the Kingdom. Our brand will always point towards becoming more like God and bringing as many people as we can along for the ride.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh, we LOVE to eat and have a great time! Here’s a brief itinerary of some of our favorite spots:

Sunday: You would have to kick off your Sunday morning at Zeal Church for one of our 3-morning gatherings! Then for brunch, we would head to Urban Steam for some excellent breakfast options. After a good Sunday nap, we could go to White Pie for dinner. Some of the best pizza in the Springs.

Monday: Monday morning, we can stop by Loyal Coffee for a delicious breakfast sandwich and an iced Chai Tea Latte. Afterward, we will head to the Garden of the Gods to take in some incredible views. Stop by Zeal Collective for our Monday Night Gatherings for some great time in community, worship, and hearing a great message! We can end our night at Epiphany Jazz club for some Arepas and other delicious food.

Tuesday: We can do the Manitou Incline, a 1-mile hike straight up; it is one of the most challenging activities you will ever do. Then go to Rudys BBQ for some Brisket breakfast burritos! You will want a nap to recover; then we can go to Homa at Kinship Landing for a hearty lunch. For dinner, we can go to Dos Santos, which boasts some of the best specialty tacos in Colorado.

Wednesday: Manitou Penny Arcade is a fun historic locale for fun games and carnival-style snacks. Dinner at Paravicini’s Italian Bistro, the best Italian in the city, served by an authentic Italian chef with some of the best flavors I have ever had.

Thursday: Sleep in, then go to Monses’ Pupuseria in Old Colorado City for a lunch you won’t forget, followed up with some ice cream from Colorado City Creamery. Dinner at Thai Mint for Red Curry!

Friday: I am a homebody, so this would be a great day to chill at home during the day, watch a new show on Netflix, and order some food from Piglatin Cocina, one of the best restaurants here, which has some great Latin-American fusion food for lunch. End the night at our favorite steakhouse in COS, Peppertree. Get the Steak, Diane, trust us.

Saturday: Check out Red Gravy for an excellent Italian lunch and end the night at COATI, which is our premier food hall with 8+ restaurants to choose from, live music, and fun environment!
