Meet zoë anjo | Gardener

We had the good fortune of connecting with zoë anjo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi zoë, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is natural for me. I receive inspiration in flashes, and some of the best outcomes in my life have been via risk taking. I’m the kind of person that if you tell me I can’t do it, I reply, “watch me.”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a gardener of plants, of energy, and all that is alive. With the belief that everything is alive, everything is spirit, I am devoted to working in partnership with the plant beings, and the human beings. There are guides and helpers all around us, and with curiosity and gratitude we can nurture these relationships. I have been a residential gardener, a country club gardener, a park’s horticulturist, an MMJ warehouse worker, a greenhouse worker, and had my own gardening business. What I’ve learned through it all is that not only is it about the plants, it’s also about the people. No, this path hasn’t always been easy. Yet, there is a golden thread that I continue to weave, to tether, to follow. It is the path of service. You never know who someone is, and I’m here for the unfolding.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A day at Trinidad Lake State Park- paddle boarding and hanging out watching the birds and the clouds A drive up Highway 12, and visiting the lakes and small towns along the way.
A hike at Fisher’s Peak State Park
An evening dip in the Purgatoire River, just west of town, followed by drinks and live music at the Trinidad Lounge.
A walk down all the cool alleys on our way to the A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art.
Coffee at Mutiny Trinidad.
A bike ride down the dirt roads to Hoehne.
A walk to the old Masonic Cemetery and searching for the oldest grave.
Brunch at Almack’s.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate a big and juicy Shoutout to Marilyn Megenity, originator of The Mercury Café.
