We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Ertl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
If I was ever going to achieve my goals I realized that it wasn’t going to happen working for someone else. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but after going through many stressful situations I figured if I could handle that running a business wasn’t going to be any harder than the trials and tribulations I had already gone through. I had to learn from my mistakes and turn it into a positive much like running a business. Managing stress and work life balance is key, speak your truth and people will come to respect that.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This is a difficult question to answer. I guess the artist in me comes out in my plumbing work and providing vacation rentals that stand out. I guess I am most proud of the mechanical work I provide. I want my work to look like a work of art but be easy to maintain and allow the next person in line to be able to repair any issues with ease when I am long gone. I believe I got where I am at today by being persistent, continuing my education, and learning from others. Nothing worth while ever comes easy, you have to stay consistent and disciplined. Life has had many challenges which I think everyone experiences at different stages of their lives. What I want the world to know about me is… I try very hard to learn and grow to be a good husband and father. Success starts at home with your family everything else is second. I want to be remembered to friends and family as the type of person they aspire to be. My ultimate goal would be to get in a financial position to give back more to those less fortunate.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am very fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet… Estes Park Colorado the gateway to the Rocky Mountain National Park. I would take them traveling up Trail Ridge Road ( the highest paved road in the United States). Hiking in the National Park. Live entertainment in our community. World famous Stanley Hotel. Many restaurants and local food trucks park at many of the micro brews. End the day by a camp fire in my beautiful backyard.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The success i have achieved could not have been done without the support of my family (Immediate and extended) and friends. Shout out to my mother Darlene Helen Ertl, brothers Karl Robert Ertl and David Stephen Ertl, Sisters karolyn Ann Olberding and Krisanne Marie Ertl and my spouse Kelly Shannon Richardson. My father Robert John Ertl (deceased) and grand father Herman Stephen Straub (deceased) in which I named my plumbing business after have been a great inspiration and taught me about faith, family, and friends, integrity and treating people how you want to be treated. Being genuine and true to yourself has gained the respect and trust of my clients both in the plumbing industry and vacation rental business. do your best, don’t look back, and keep moving forward. Count your blessings learn from the past but don’t live there.
