Empowered Play | Center for Child and Family Counseling

As child therapists, we have two main areas of focus. The first and most immediate is to help families in the here and now. Often, people are coming to us because there is a level of distress in their household that is negatively impacting one or more members of the family. Whether that is because of behavioral challenges, life circumstances, traumatic experiences, etc, our primary focus is always to find the family relief as quickly as we can. Our second area of focus is the long-term and more universal impact we can have. We are lucky to be trusted with the youngest members of our communities; the ones who are both the most vulnerable and have the most still to learn in their lives. This means that we have the potential to impact them in big ways. If we can help children learn healthy coping skills at a young age, not only do we improve their future outcomes, but we also get to have a ripple effect on the communities that each child will impact as they move through the world. It’s easy to see how unhealthy our culture is by just checking the evening news, and we are privileged to be able to help the next generations to be healthier and more whole.
