I’m very lucky to be inspired by almost everything around me. I’ll grab a little inspiration from what I see on desert hikes with my dog, Venus (@thevenusbetweenus), a little more from the tribe of mountain bikers that I am fortunate enough to serve, work and ride with at my bike shop job in Moab, still more from the beautiful drives that I take, always with my camera to document and spread the incredible stoke that I feel. I am inspired by the Earth. She is truly my favorite artist and muse. I love her vibrant colors, all of her cycles – day/night, winter/spring/summer/fall – and the richness of each of them. I love her scent, her mountains, her sunsets, her trees… I love the way she feels beneath my feet. I love the ways that she makes me present. I am also inspired by Black Women, particularly my siSTAR friends. I love stories. And I believe that geniuses are born in dark places. It is within the darkness and our shadow, that our stories and healing reside. This is what inspires me and is the primary informant for my work. I help people move pain, not around, but through. When I was younger, I was inspired by all the “normal” things, what brand of clothes I could buy, who I knew and how cool they were, and when to be at the right place at the right time, but something was always stirring underneath me, it grumbled at the soles of my feet and vibrated deep into the marrow of my bones.
