What do you want your legacy to be?

We asked folks about legacy and what they want people to remember about them. We’ve shared some of those responses below.

As a behavior analysis working in the field of ABA, I work with young children diagnosed with autism and their families. When working with these families and thinking about what I want mine and Discover Autism Support’s legacy to be, I think of empathy, compassion, and inclusion. I would love to be remembered as someone who is sensitive to family values and perspectives, who cares deeply about the work I do, and who is constantly striving to cultivate an inclusive community. Honestly, I want people to remember the Cowboys and the West. I want my art to excite others and get them to a Rodeo or to a Chuckwagon event. Get them outside and away from their technology for just a moment. Let them remember that childhood pony or working the gate for their grandpa as he gathers the livestock. What I have always strived to leave as my legacy is to give people hope. We all come together on this Earth to share it and as unperfect as it may be it still is a beautiful place to call home. I know theres many people out there that deal with grief, addiction, depression and even anger and I stand as a beacon to anyone who hears my music or reads my stories that YOU can make it through anything. Personally I have lost everything you can imagine, parents, family, pets, money, security, but instead of leaning on a dependency to cover my own issues I have faced it head on and stood out of jail, stood away from drugs and if I can do it with all the loss I was forced to digest I believe for a fact anyone can as well – if you love YOURSELF and you keep the FAITH.
