What’s the right work-life balance for you?


Our community is filled with hard-working, high achieving entrepreneurs and creatives and so work-life balance is a complicated, but highly relevant topic. We’ve shared some responses from the community about work life balance and how their views have evolved over time below.

At Nicolo’s, we don’t really buy into the idea of “work-life balance” as some kind of 50/50 split. There’s just life—and we try to show up fully wherever we are needed most.

I have always wanted to be married and have a family. My wife and I met late in life. Before that time I would stay after work, as an educator and work on things. I would volunteer for after school activities. Once I was married I stopped all that. And once we had our daughter even more so. My family is my balance and that is a non negotiable. We have regular date nights during the week and sometimes date days as a whole family. They are my priority and then work is second. I want my family to get the best of version of me not my work. I spent most of my 20s and early 30s hustling constantly. Between meetings, travel and the desire for success, I prioritized building my business. Once I had a child, everything changed and the hustle meant much less to me. I changed course and spent time and energy developing relationships that mattered to me.
