Meet Leo Perrucci | Martial Arts Academy Owner and Head Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Leo Perrucci and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leo, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
For my School it’s the community we’ve built, everyone trains together, our beginners are right there alongside our professionals. Our pros and amateur fighters help with our youth program, everyone has a hand in building up our team. As far as our competition team goes, the most important factor behind my gym’s success is our willingness to seek the most challenging fights we can take. I’ve never taken easy fights for any of my students, we take risks and put ourselves out there. Win, lose, or draw we always preform. My academy has a reputation now for putting out some of the most ferocious competitors in the nation.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own a Martial Arts Academy called, Forza Combat Sports, I teach Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Striking for MMA. What sets us apart from others is the culture and community we have, everyone trains together from our day 1 beginners to our UFC fighters…we have a structured program that allows for our beginners to train side by side with our competitors in a safe environment.
As a business owner I am most excited about our gym culture, we have created an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed. As the head coach I am most excited for the accomplishments of our competition team, our fighters have won local, national, North American, and World titles. A few have even gone to the UFC, and we’ve only been open since 2017.
We got to where we’ve been by word of mouth and putting our students out there into challenging competition. It was extremely difficult at first, I had one student, I was the coach, strength and conditioning trainer, and training partner. We hit the national circuit taking any match we could get. Soon we grew as an academy that allowed me to develop more fighters as our students grew in skill. Now we have nearly 100 students 25 active competitors.
I put my heart and soul into my students and my academy, I focused on my passion for making their lives better, whether they compete or not, we’re all fighters, we’re all battling something in our lives wether it be mental health, obesity, or an in the ring battle.. If you do things for the right reasons and work hard the rest will fall into place.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d have to visit Red Rocks one day, go up to Breckinridge another. As far as food, Biker Jims, Pearl Of Siam in Aurora, Little India, Marquis Pizza, Benny Blanco’s downtown. For Night life anywhere downtown is always a blast, my favorite bars are Scruffy Murphy’s and the Forrest Room 5. Finally we’re getting Tattooed by one of my best friends Davie Allenby at his new studio, Vertex Tattoo. The rest of the time we’re eating traditional Bolivia. Home-cooked meals and playing games at My Parents house.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Mom, Step-dad, and Fiancé for pushing me to open my gym, for helping me get my first lease, and for helping me demo, build, and make the first inception of Forza.
