Meet Jordyn Herd | Yoga Instructor and Physical Therapists Assistant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordyn Herd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordyn, what do you want people to remember about you?
The value of an individual’s life journey is priceless. As a yoga instructor, I have had the honor of meeting people at various phases in that journey. I want to be remembered as someone who inspired and encouraged them along the way. I want my legacy to leave a lasting, positive impact on their life journey.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been active my entire life and taught dance throughout high school. Following graduation, I knew I wanted to stay active, so I began practicing yoga. As my interest in the practice grew, my desire for a deeper education did as well. I was certified in 2016 in Savannah, Georgia with Mira Yoga School (now New Yoga School). As I grew in my field, I realized how intimidating the health and wellness industry can be.
Acts of service is my love language, and teaching yoga is a way for me to incorporate that into my work. Teaching my community skills to assess the feedback the body gives us became a fundamental aspect taught in my classes. In 2019 I began a Physical Therapy Assisting (PTA) program to grasp the nuanced way the body gives feedback. This program was challenging and fast paced. The difficulties I faced in my program refined the way I delivered this information.
I have enjoyed teaching public classes and private sessions for all ages since being certified. With the addition of my PTA program, my ability to support and encourage my students of all ages has been enhanced. Since graduating, I have relocated to Colorado and enjoy sharing this practice with my new community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to visit for a week, the first thing we would do is drive to Colorado National Monument and drive Rim Rock so she could get the best views. We would grab a piece of pizza from Bravos before heading home to enjoy the peach trees growing in my front yard. Monday’s itinerary would consist of breakfast at home with local Trailhead Coffee coffee beans followed by a day spent at Snook’s Bottom. That night, we would make our way to the Copper Club club for trivia. Tuesday we would visit the Monument again and hike some trails. To refuel after our adventures, Hot Tomato is where you will find us. Wednesday we will drive out to The Grand Mesa and take advantage of the views and lakes to escape the summer heat of Grand Junction for a bit. We will eat yummy snacks while out at The Mesa to hold us over until we can get to El Tapatio. Thursday would consist of a Palisade day filled with vineyard tours while taking advantage of the local wineries. Friday we would walk around Los Colonias Park, visit Western Colorado Botanical Gardens and catch some swing dancing at Browns Cycles. Saturday morning we would head to the Main Street Farmers Market and enjoy local vendors as well as the adorable boutiques. That evening we would make dinner with our fresh finds at the market. Sunday we would start our day at Trailhead Coffee for coffee and breakfast. We would take one last day to enjoy the Monument before sending my bestie home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A big shout-out to my all my students and the Yoga community in Savannah, Georgia. Thank you for allowing me to learn from you and teach you throughout the years. My mom, dad, brother, and sister for their support and encouragement through my journey. I’d also like to give a shoutout to my partner for being so open to letting me test out new ideas, whether that be a rehabilitative exercise or a new massage technique. Lastly, I would like to thank my family and friends for their continued support. I appreciate you all.
