We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Carver and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scott, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am a serial entrepreneur. I’ve started 5 businesses, all of which became leaders in the markets they served. I love the process of seeing a problem, visualizing a solution and acting on bringing that solution to market. With onWater, I recognized that outdoor recreation enthusiasts were seeking and adopting technology tools to enhance their outdoor experiences. However, the fly fishing and adventure watersports communities had not been addressed. Given my tech and lodge owner experience, I felt we could address this need by starting onWater.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
onWater is the leading outdoor recreation technology platform dedicated to the fly fishing community and adventure water sports. We are revolutionizing the way anglers plan, explore, track and relive their fly fishing adventures. What sets us apart is the scope of our product. Nearly every stakeholder in the fly fishing and paddle sports ecosystem, including outfitters, retailers, product manufacturers, publishers and conservation groups can use and derive value from our app.

We’ve been able to accomplish this by have a clear vision of the problem we’re trying to solve and the market we are addressing. We’ve assembled a team of highly experienced individuals who are passionate about our mission. It feels more like a family than a company and that is quite rewarding.

onWater is all about Enhancing the outdoor experience of our users, Connecting our community and Conserving our precious resources.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When people come to visit we generally will go to the mountains. However, for activities in the city I would spend time in LoDo.and the Union Station area. Would also head over to the highlands area to hit some of the restaurants with great views of the city like L5, Avanti, Linger and others. Take in a game at Coors field and maybe grab a chile relleno at Brewery Bar II

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife (Lisa). My wife has always supported, encouraged and tolerated my entrepreneurial endeavors even though it put her and our family at great risk. Starting a business requires complete focus, time away from family and huge financial risk. Without my wife’s support, I would never have achieved the success we have. So many entrepreneurs with great ideas are stymied because they didn’t have a partner who could tolerate the risk involved.
