Meet Tarell Martin C2 Mass Choir | Colorado Based Gospel Choir

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tarell Martin C2 Mass Choir and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tarell Martin, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Tarell Martin & C2 Mass Choir pursued an artistic career to reignite the original Stellar Award-Winning Colorado Mass Choir, created and founded by Joe Pace. The C2 Mass Choir vision and mission is to use their gifts, graces, and abilities to do good in the community through singing that touches hearts, inspires change and growth, and encourages people to fulfill their God-given dreams.

With members of the original Colorado Mass Choir and other gifted singers from across the region, the C2 Mass Choir assembled and began rehearsing in Spring 2021. After hours of dedicated rehearsal, the C2 Mass Choir debuted during its Warmup Concert on July 3, 2001 where they also released their first single, “So Amazing.” In June 2022, C2 Mass Choir released its second single, “Shine On Me”.

“Many think that gospel choirs are ‘dead’ and no longer have an impact. Even current music suggests that choir music has been permanently replaced by music geared to smaller groups and solo artists,” says C2 Mass Choir founder, Tarell Martin. “I knew that people would be reminded of and even introduced to the power of gospel choirs when I was led to reinvent the Colorado Mass Choir in the form of C2. We take some of the most popular gospel choir music and add a little something to them. And because of our reimagined arrangements, we have been overwhelmed by the positive response and support. And that’s what we’re here to do.”

The C2 Mass Choir lives their vision by:
(1) Using their gifts, graces, and abilities to do good in the community.
(2) Allowing music to bring a diverse group of people together in love and unity
(3) Singing songs that create moments of introspection and reflection
(4) Living the truth and faith in the songs C2 choir members sing
(5) Being in community with fellow C2 choir members where we pray for and with each other and grow in our own personal walks of faith

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In just a short year, C2 has made an impact not just in Colorado but across the US. While it may not have been easy, it has been fun. We’ve enjoyed having the opportunity to sing with new voices, travel to various festivals, from the Saginaw Gospel Festival to the Winter Park Jazz Festival. We want the world to know that the C2 Mass Choir seeks to leave anyone that hears us sing better, inspired, and ignited to pursue the life God has for them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
With about 40 people in the choir, everyone has their own individual tastes. We have managed to land on Taco Tuesday’s as one of our favorite group activities. We’ve enjoyed group outings to ViewHouse, Fuzzy’s, and FatBoys.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Tarell Martin & C2 Mass Choir is the reignited and reimagined extension of the original Stellar Award winning Colorado Mass Choir, created and founded by Joe Pace. Choir Founder, Tarell Martin, received the blessing from Joe Pace to form C2 Mass Choir. Joe Pace has been an inspiration in the gospel music world for many years, inspiring many church choirs and gospel artists to share their gift.
