We had the good fortune of connecting with Candice Kusterle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Candice, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have been in Dentistry since 1992. I started out with school as a dental assistant, the year 2000 I entered into Dental Hygiene school. After spending most of my dental career working for someone else in 2021 I decided to open my own practice to provide better one on one hygiene care to people and move out of a “traditional” setting of hygiene patients only being scheduled for barely an hour. Every mouth that belongs to a body is completely different then the next and when the mouth is is window to our entire health system people need to be cared for what they have and need more care then on a clock. I practice whole body health because we are all connected. It is important to share more knowledge all the time because we do not know what we do not know.
What should our readers know about your business?
Some of this question I answered above. Some challenges I had/have is getting out of my own way and having a mindset you can do anything you are meant to do great things and serving others is one of them.
To have my own practice being able to treat every individual as a person not just seeing them for 1 hour. I discuss overall body health from how a person takes care of their mouth to how they fuel, to how they practice good sleep, have a good mindset , breathe there is so much that goes into health and it starts with the window to our health the mouth. I use a laser to help decrease bacteria along with increasing health . Doing independent dental hygiene brings my life such joy and peace. Seeing people is like having coffee with them, we talk about life, family and everything in between!
I am passionate about giving anyone who sits in my chair my attention to what is in their mouth and what could be going on with the entire system give more knowledge to put the pieces of their puzzle together.
I am so glad to be able to provide an environment that is less stressful than a traditional dental office setting.
Now I also have more knowledge on Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy to help people live more optimal.
The golden rule treat others how you want to be treated.
To have more knowledge is powerful !
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Go hiking or take electric bikes through Garden of the Gods, get coffee at one of the many of of a kind small shops… Go to Mt Princeton or Glenwood springs to soak in mineral water. Go shopping …..visit farmers markets.
There are so many places to eat along the way I always look up small places
We have many breweries in Colorado and places to see it’s hard to just pick a few.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
