Meet Tyler Savino | Independent Filmmaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Savino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Put plainly, I want to be the Willy Wonka of Ohio indie. My wildest dreams extend to a retrofitted car warehouse full of sets and props, the ability to host local indie productions. and the freedom to decide just how far I want to break the rules of independent film.
While I do have a great amount of respect for the way things have been done, I’ve always maintained that the ability to create comes from the person. I’ve seen incredible productions come from teams of one person, and I’ve seen multi-million dollar productions boil over into oblivion. Art comes from the artist, and not where he lives or who he knows.
Also, frankly, when picturing my career trajectory over the next ten or twenty, I would much rather create a hundred small projects on my terms than jockey my way into a studio film that eats up five years of my life. Bucketnaut allows me to take risks, it allows me to prop up small creators in a big way, and it allows me the ability to develop my audience and grow at my pace.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
To me, the most exciting thing about the way I create is the ability to buck the auteur mentality, where a Tyler Savino film has to stick to a certain genre, or a certain camera style, whatever. I woke up one morning and wrote three scripts, each completely different in tone and style, and never second guessed whether any of them fit my personal brand.
Bucketnaut’s content is already eclectic and unpretentious, so I’ve just placed myself in a situation where I’m not putting artificial limits on myself.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout Marlee Carpenter and Thomas Moeger, who have both trusted my dreams enough to keep coming back for more. Every production that I’ve done for Bucketnaut has involved one or both of them in some major way, and I want to keep that going.
