We had the good fortune of connecting with Katrina Spain and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katrina, what do you attribute your success to?
Providing an excellent experience and product are super important. However, the most important factor behind my success is gratitude. I’m constantly showing my clients how grateful I am for them. I’m so blessed to get to do what I truly love for a living, and I want to pass that great feeling onto my clients.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey with art started at a young age. I used to line up my stuffed animals on my bed and take photos with a disposable camera. Photography has always been a part of my life since then. I’ve taken many photography classes, learned from peers, and from my own experimentations. It’s taken a lot of resilience and perseverance to get to where I am.
My clients choose me not only for my artistic style, but also for the experience I provide. I instill confidence in them before our session by helping them in every way to prepare, and at our session by giving detailed instructions on what to do and throwing in tons of compliments.
What I want the world to know is that you can be a total boss and also be lighthearted, fun, and extremely grateful.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would recommend they go up to the North Shore and rent paddle boards and SUP the Anahulu rivier with the sea turtles. Then head on over to Historical Haleiwa for some lunch at Teddy’s Bigger Burger.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mentors Amy and Jordan Demos have helped my skills and business tremendously. My husband has also been my biggest supporter, always pushing me toward my best self in business and in life.
