Meet Ana Luna Uribe-Leteinturier | Violinist, Performance Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Luna Uribe-Leteinturier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ana Luna, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My entire career has been about risk taking. Being an artist and a musician is something that involves extreme creativity, focus and drive. Creating new ideas and concepts will always involve risk but that is what excites me so much about this career path. There is such a misconception about being a freelance musician and a creative; that of the starving artist. I am living proof that you can take risks and follow a creative path and that it pays off. It does not have to be a struggle. We have gotten the greatest art and music in the world because of those that take risks.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have played violin since I was 7 years old and always grew up with a love of acting and dance. I decided to follow a path as a classically trained violinist and received two university degrees in violin performance. When I finished school, I realized I didn’t want to be just another violinist sitting in a classical orchestra for the rest of my life (although I have great respect for those who choose this path, it just wasn’t for me). I have always loved interdisciplinary performances and the mixing of different performing art forms. I now specialize in pop, improvisation and immersive performance that involve violin playing, acting and movement. I am interested in creating new ways of using the violin in live performances. There are so many pathways we haven’t explored as instrumentalists and i believe the limits to what we can create are endless. I want people to know that my brand doesn’t fit in a box, if I have a wild idea, I am going to go for it. I am proof that you do not need to follow the status quo, you can create a creative career for yourself that fits exactly who you are without bending to anyone else.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to the mountains. I grew up in Miami, Florida so Denver has been a really different living experience for me the past 4 years. I absolutely love being in nature and outdoor activities. Anything in Idaho Springs or Breckinridge that involves hiking, paddle boarding, soaking in hot springs and eating good food is where you can find me!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people and places that have led me to where I am today. My partner; parents, siblings and close friends encourage my creativity and my career every day. My violin mentors through the years have helped make me the player I am. This year, I am most grateful to my dance and movement teachers for reigniting my passion for dance and interdisciplinary performance. It is impossible to name all of the people and organizations who have made me who I am as a performer, but they know who they are.
