Meet Walmir Sparapane | Actor, Performer , Makeup artist and Costume Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Walmir Sparapane and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Walmir, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
art saved me. I come from a traditional Italian family, Roman Catholic and art, like movies, TV soap operas, and even music, was where I sought my own education. Artistic education showed me that my imaginary friends were more embossed than those in real life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was born in a provincial town in the west of the state of São Paulo in Brazil. my mother made porcelain dolls to help with the household budget, and I painted the little faces hidden from my father. At 17, I was already doing fashion shows, bringing together clothing stores in my city, until when I turned 18 I moved to São Paulo. The biggest difficulty was believing in my potential since at that time there was not as much information as today. imagine in a very small town. The secret is exactly in trying to overcome yourself with each work, this encourages you to follow a path that has no end. if each challenge you have the courage to overcome the previous one, your professional life or any other will only go forward. I never opted for the easy way, difficulties teach much more. sometimes I dive inside myself in search of creativity for a new creation thinking I’ll find the bottom, but no. we are infinite in depth as much as we are a source. that’s one of the main things I’ve learned over the course of a 30-year career. we cannot have limits.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Burning Man for sure. I don’t think anything is as significant in an artist’s career as an event like this. it’s a place I wish all my friends would go. and that this experience would change their lives as much as it changed mine.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
my mom. she was the only accomplice and squire when my career as an artist was threatened. then my elementary school arts education teacher. the rest of my family did not see a professional future in my choices and thought that art was not a job. we are bums
