We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Ragnow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, why did you pursue a creative career?
I was interested in the arts at such a young age. Deep down, I always knew an artistic path was the key to unlocking my creative desires; I was incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity of ‘grandmas art classes’ when I was young to propel and sustain my creativity in which my imagination was able to run wild and supported in trying new things and techniques which encouraged my inquisitive nature of floral design.

Finding Floral design offered me the balance between necessary advancement and traditional displays, both of which I pull inspiration from.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My goal in everything I create is to inspire the way other artists inspire me. I am always creating with the intention of a ‘one of a kind’ experience, whether it is a table arrangement or a full event. I am constantly learning, and I’m not sure i’d love my job as much if i wasn’t. the ability to never run out of fresh ideas, or creative customers is so appreciated by me; and in turn everything i produce for a client is custom and one of a kind.

The most important lesson I’ve learned is how to say no to someone. When I first started out i felt like ‘no’ was synonymous with ‘never’ when in actuality it was just a definition of boundaries and attracting the clients I wanted to create for.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to a Coors Field game and a Red Rocks concert while they were here…There are so many great restaurants, like Pony Up, and the Melting Pot in Littleton, The Fort in Morrison….I would spend some time in Manitou enjoying all the small local shops and Pearl St. in Boulder for the same reason. Denver continues to flourish and grow and because of that I’d love to take a visitor to Meow Wolf to experience something they haven’t before, or our Botanic Gardens… we are incredibly blessed with so many artists who preform and display on a giant stage like the Museum of Outdoor Arts near Fiddlers Green; a concert venue everyone should experience at least once. I haven’t even touched on the day trip hikes/adventure but there is more than enough to keep visitors happy & busy while they’re here.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Cam Margera has done nothing but support my crazy installation ideas, and been along for the ride since my first big install. He captures the detail behind the big moments so eloquently, I am constantly surprised by the feelings he evokes with his work.
