We had the good fortune of connecting with Chalyse Dandridge and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chalyse, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a mother of two little boys, one thing that has always been extremely important to me is being as present and active as possible in my children’s lives.

After my first born, it wasn’t hard for me to decide that I wanted to be a stay-at-home mother and create my own flexible schedule around the needs of my babies.

Although creating has always been a peaceful space for me, becoming a mother has truly inspired me more than ever to follow my true passion for crochet and to stay consistent in efforts to build my brand, Urban Stitch Assassin.

Crocheting gives me the opportunity to support my family by doing what I absolutely love, all while staying close to what’s most important to me. I want my sons to be able to remember that Mama was always there.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Crocheting is much more than just a hobby or way to make money for me. It’s a space of comfort and peace. A lot of love and effort goes into every piece that I create and that’s what’s most important to me. I want my customers to feel proud when wearing custom crochet wear from Urban Stitch Assassin, because it is carefully handmade, especially for them.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to not only my children, but also to my parents, family and friends who have given me tremendous amounts of love and support towards my business.

I would not be where I am today without them, and I am beyond grateful for everyone that has supported my crochet business in any type of way, from a purchase to simply a compliment. Thank you for encouraging me to keep going.
