We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Mahaffey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I always knew from a young age that I wanted to have my own business. I found my passion in tree work because I loved the adrenaline and challenge of climbing. When my daughter was born in the midst of the pandemic, I was determined to find a way to balance my love of tree work while also having the flexibility to be home with my family. Everleaf is a tribute to my daughter- Everleigh, who inspires me everyday to stay dedicated, pursue my passion, and treat every client as family.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that it takes patience and perseverance to be successful. I’ve learned to trust the process and keep moving forward. I think that what sets Everleaf apart is the way we treat our customers. We take a lot of pride in what we do and it shows in our attention to detail. We are upfront and honest about our prices, and we are dedicated to serving the community and paying it forward.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place to watch football is at the Pumphouse in Longmont. It is the best place for family entertainment and food. Allenspark is our favorite spot in the mountains and we often go there to camp and hike.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When the opportunity to start my own business came, my wife encouraged me to take the chance. While it wasn’t always easy in the beginning, she supported me to never give up. My mom and dad would drive several hours just to help with some of the dirty work and always motivated me to keep going. I also am thankful for the communities of Lyons and Longmont who really helped my business take off through referrals and promoting my business. Since moving to Loveland, I’ve had the chance to expand my business and the community has been very welcoming. Having a business truly takes a village and I’m so grateful for all of the support I’ve received from the community.
