We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesse Cody and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jesse, how does your business help the community?
As a mental health organization we work to bring awareness to wilderness therapy and it’s benefits on mental health.

This day in age and with the state of mental health in our country we find it’s important to showcase other means, specifically getting in touch with nature, in which you can seek a different path to help improve your mental health.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a ultra hiker and mental health advocate who has combined my passions to create the nonprofit Hike the Good Hike.

We are building our platform into a community based platform where people can share the stories on how nature has played an important role in helping with their mental health/illness.

We also use some of our donations to support mental health programs that use or are integrating wilderness therapy into their organizations.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a huge fan of the high desert!

Whether we hit up Taos NM to take in the beauty of the gorge and Rio Grande river or taking a road trip to Salida, CO to take in the beautiful mountains vista’s and the watch the kayakers on the river.

It’s all outdoors with me and why shouldn’t it be. Camping, a fire, cooking on the Colman grill and some IPA’s!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As a nonprofit we depend on support (and a bit of love). I can’t thank all the family members, friends and those who have found their way to our organization and got behind our mission.

Everyday I’m reminded why being a mental health advocate is such important work by those continuously supporting our cause.

I will always continue to hike and speak due to so many who help Hike The Good Hike.
