We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor McGuigan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, how do you think about risk?
I risked everything to do what im doing currently. I quit a stable job in my career field and started working nights at a pizza shop so I am able to spend my days working on models, getting certifications, and talking with salons to find the best fit for the path im trying to take. But as a hair stylist I feel i have the power to truly help people feel their best and nothing brings me more joy than people who come to me saying the transformation I gave them boosted their confidence, since that was something i struggled with for a lot of my life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been a licensed cosmetologist for just over 3 years now. I enrolled in cosmo school when I was 16 and still in high school, and graduated at 18 with a full time career immediately. I spent my first few years salon hopping finding what i wanted to do in my field. It wasnt until 2020 and covid that I realized I wasnt where i wanted to be, so I changed that. I am currently in training with Invisible Bead Extensions, which is an amazing and innovative method of hair extensions and i truly believe they’re changing lives and boosting confidence with this method and I am excited to become a part of it. My friend Kara and I plan to build our business together and run our own place doing extensions and color while keeping our relationships with clients and each other strong and based around the love of the craft.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to Glenwood Springs. It’s my favorite place in CO, and maybe the world. Its so beautiful and peaceful and theres so much to do. I personally love downtown Glenwood, and would love to take them to Hanging Lake for hikes and go rafting. I LOVE white water rafting. And stop in Idaho Springs for Beau Jo’s on the way back. Everyone always forgets about Colorado style pizza!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom for sure. She has always been so excited and supportive about me being in the beauty industry since I applied to beauty school. For the past several years she has been locked in a battle with Lyme Disease. Among many things that this disease does she has lost some hair. She inspired me to pursue IBE and build my business around helping people feel their best regardless. For women especially hair can be a bit of a security blanket, so going through training with extensions will give me the ability to not only make my mama feel good, but other people in similar situations. Everyone deseves comfort in their own skin regardless of their situation and I strive to be able to offer that. So thanks Mama for always volunteering to model and pushing me to keep learning so I can make you look fabulous.
