We had the good fortune of connecting with Cari Whitcomb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cari, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Hospitality…. Having been taught by a Mom who welcomed so many into our home I’ve learned the value of making people feel welcome and comfortable!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
There are many beautiful venues in our area! I’ve been so pleased to visit a few, and each has many different types of offerings.

The RedBird is also a very unique venue. We are on an 88 acre ranch that has a beautiful valley ( I call the holler) and wonderful outdoor ceremony space. The forest is beautiful and the wildlife have visited many a wedding !

We’ve been in love with this property since the moment we first saw it. This last year, we built a beautiful reception barn, and we have even added a carriage for pictures.

We decided to open a venue years ago as our kids were growing and we wanted to have a family business. It’s been a very interesting learning process, difficult at times to maneuver our way through the building process. But I believe we have built a beautiful venue that will stand the test of time, and we’re so excited to share it with others.!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We often take our visitors to garden of the gods, for hikes and picnics, it’s a wonderful place to visit. There are many places to eat, and shop in Manitou, as well as in Colorado Springs.

One of our favorite things to do is to visit antique shops and malls, there are many in the springs and in the surrounding areas of the venue.

We have also gone up to Denver to museums or to the aquarium. Almost any type of cuisine is available in Denver!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Teri Denison… Her book on creating a venue in your backyard was so helpful… She and I have become friends and she continues to inspire and encourage me!
