Meet Erika Strassberg | Founder & Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Strassberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erika, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that every business venture requires some amount of risk, but I personally like to call it “calculated risk.” When I began the initial concepts of The Weathered Wick, I used other businesses of all types that were succeeding & doing well as influences and inspiration. If you can take a risk while also feeling confident in the leap based on data & research you’ve done, it becomes a lot less intimidating. Plus, I back myself always. If you don’t trust yourself to be able to succeed no matter what arises along the way, then you’re doomed from the start.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have made a career out of seeing things I personally would like to do/go to and making them a reality. Nothing worth having comes easy so of course there have been hurdles along the way but as cliche as it sounds, that’s all part of how you learn, grow & get better prepared for the next great idea. My business is a create your own candle experience where you can choose the container you make the candle in, the label color, AND get to combine fragrances to create your own scent blend. Our team & level of service is what sets us apart from other experiences. We help you along the way and our aim is to create a home away from home feel where everyone feels welcomed, accepted & cozy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a tough one because it largely depends on the type of person: you could go the fun party route, the outdoorsy route – but I personally love some higher end experiences and places. At the top of my list right now are: Kumoya in LoHi for dinner (later evening reservation on a Saturday is when the vibes are the best), Forget Me Not in Cherry Creek with the DJ is a must, a spa day at St. Julien in Boulder is an incredible way to relax, and lowkey the best banana pudding I have ever had is at Post Oak on Tennyson – just trust me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My support system throughout the entire journey (from conception of the business through today even) is my family & friends. My husband, mom & dad all worked tireless hours both in the studio AND behind the scenes, supporting me in numerous ways. I would NOT be here today without each of them. And my friends have never wavered in cheering me on – no matter what project, business or new ideas I come up with.
