Hi Olivia, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic and creative career because it’s ingrained in who I am at my core. As a single mom, navigating through life’s challenges, I found solace and joy in creativity. Being a girl mom, I realized the importance of creating magical moments and memories for my children, as well as for myself. Through my journey of healing from toxic relationships and embracing a healing lifestyle, I discovered the transformative power of beauty and aesthetics.

From a young age, I found myself drawn to the elegance and charm of period dramas, often spending hours crafting costumes inspired by the movies. This innate love for aesthetics and creating beauty led me to establish Mālama Luxury Picnics, a venture where I could combine my passion for hosting, aesthetics, and creating unforgettable experiences.

For me, creativity is more than just a career
choice; it’s a way of life. It’s my love language, my way of expressing myself and bringing joy to others. There’s something incredibly rewarding about curating magical moments for people, being a part of their special memories, and witnessing the impact it has on their lives. Ultimately, pursuing an artistic and creative career allows me to channel my passion into something tangible, leaving a lasting impression on those I have the privilege to serve.

My art is an expression of my journey—a blend of healing, creativity, and the beauty I find in life. What sets me apart is my deep connection to people and serving them and the island lifestyle, which infuses every aspect of my work. As the founder of Mālama Luxury Picnics, I take pride in curating unforgettable experiences that celebrate love, beauty, and the spirit of aloha.

Getting to where I am today professionally hasn’t been easy, especially as a single mother navigating the complexities of entrepreneurship and the financial struggles that brings. However, through resilience and determination, I’ve overcome numerous challenges. I’ve learned to embrace each obstacle as an opportunity for growth.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned along the way is the importance of authenticity and staying true to myself and my vision. By embracing my unique background and passions, I’ve been able to carve out a niche for myself in the industry.

Ultimately, I want the world to know that Mālama Luxury Picnics isn’t just about creating beautiful events—it’s about fostering connections, making memories, and spreading joy. It’s about taking time to pause and soak in life’s big and little moments. My brand is a reflection of my journey, and I hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams fearlessly, no matter the obstacles they may face.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Big Island of Hawai’i is so special and unique and if you do come visit, I highly recommend supporting local restaurants and businesses. Grab a bite to eat at Willie’s Hot Chicken and enjoy a delicious roast from HICO Hawaiian Coffee before enjoying a beautiful day at the beach.

Kalehua Kaiawe, an inspiring single mother and dedicated business owner, fearlessly pursues her goals and dreams while nurturing her children with love and aloha, all while actively preserving and raising awareness about Hawaiian culture. As the owner of Paradise Crush Studio and Boutique, she embodies resilience and determination. Despite her busy schedule, she has consistently supported and collaborated with my business. Working alongside another single mother with ambitious goals is incredibly motivating.
