We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosé Curley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rosé, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Growing up I absolutely hated my hair and I was always trying to understand who I was and how I wanted to show up. I was bullied for my hair by family and my peers.
My goal with starting my business was not only to create a safe space for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities but to show those who have textured hair that they can find much euphoria from being educated in their hair and choosing what feels good for each client instead of what society says is acceptable.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Colorado does not have enough curl/texture specialist’s as is. On top of that it’s rare to find a space that is truly safe for the lgbtqia+ and bipoc communities. I have created both. As a non binary, non monogamous, bipoc person, there are many spaces I don’t feel safe in. I have worked in salons that were bipoc owned but showed lots of texturism and judgment of queer people. I also worked in salons that were “safe spaces” but I never felt fully seen as a bipoc person.
I have experience not only in cutting long textured hair but also in educating clients on their hair, color, and barbering services.
I want to open a stand alone space by January of 2026 in the five points area so all clients can come into a safe space, feel confident in their stylists abilities, and know that they are seen and accepted as they are.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born and raised in Colorado from five points, to park hill, to Aurora.
The perfect day or week would have to include Mimosas for brunch in five points. I love the fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, and beignets(don’t forget a mimosa flight)
From there I would stroll the five points area to see lots of art and history.
I love coming downtown on 16th st mall for any reason, many stores and food to try but my main favorites are 5280 burger bar or Thai Lanna. I go to each multiple times a week.
While down town you have to check out black girl museum or museum of illusion for a new experience!
For night life fun, catch me at Xbar, Tracks, first Friday art walk, or colfax in general.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I first would like to thank my parents and siblings. Without my parents support while I was in hair school I wouldn’t be where I am now, even their help currently with my children and keeping our house in order I wouldn’t be able to have the successes I have now.
To my siblings, your trust and care and how you all continue to get services from me and bring your kids in and give me that trust and experience as well.

I wouldn’t have the knowledge I do now without the stylists that I have worked with. Special thanks to Taylor, Elizabeth, Marissa, Thomas, Allie, Ray, and Evan for your love, support and education you have provided. I wouldn’t be where I am without yall!
