Meet Tamara Albrecht | Podcast Host, eCommerce Professional & Entreprenuer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Albrecht and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamara, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in Minnesota, but spent the majority of my life in Florida. I came from a broken home with a single mother struggling to make ends meet. We lived a very humble life. For a long time I thought getting a desk job working monday thru friday making enough money to pay the bills was what was destined for me because that is what I saw around me – and even on TV as a kid. I knew we didn’t have money for me to go to college, so I didn’t put much emphasis on education. I was never told by my parents, school administrators or counselors that I could get scholarships or financial assistance for college. There was a lot of emphasis on my appearance and I thought my way out of this life would be through modeling and acting. After moving to Florida and becoming a teenager my priority was fitting in and being “cool” which meant getting into a lot of things I shouldn’t have. However; my mother didn’t let me get away with a lot of the things my friend’s parents did. She showed me tough love and that I always had a safe space with her – even if I didn’t know or believe it at the time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have several irons in the fire. But what I am most proud of, in addition to my day job in eCommerce, my side hustle of software consulting and my budding short-term rental real estate business, is “Without Regret the Podcast”. I invite the most extraordinary, regular, people on to share how they were able to overcome the most challenging obstacles. It is my passion to inspire people who want to change their life, but don’t know how due to their circumstances; whether self-induced or not, that it is entirely possible to take control of your life and accomplish your wildest dreams. It is these real life examples of every-day, “normal” people who have done it that sets this podcast apart from others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first place I like to take people who come to visit is Chautauqua park in Boulder. The hiking there is beautiful, not too difficult for the ones who aren’t used to the altitude, but has the option of the Royal Arch trail if they are feeling more adventurous and energetic. For the ones who don’t have the energy, we go to Realization Point up on Flagstaff mountain. It is a short, fun, drive up the switchbacks to the parking area where it is a very short walk to the most amazing views. We also enjoy taking our friends out on the eBikes where we can go up to 20 miles on the seemingly endless bike trails throughout the area, most also with breathtaking views. (Have I mentioned the views here are amazing?). If the weather is warm enough, and it isn’t too windy, a paddleboard ride on a nice reservoir, like Standley Lake, is on the itinerary. And of course we can’t leave out Red Rocks Amphitheater – whether for a concert or just a day-time visit to check the place out, including the museum on-site and the hiking trails around it. For longer visits, maybe in the prime ski season, we can head up to Copper Mountain or Breckenridge resorts for some lessons and all the winter fun they have to offer. Always with a stop for breakfast, or Beaujo’s pizza, in Idaho Springs. And for the risk-takers, Blackhawk has the casino life! And also some spa activities for the less gambling inclined. Last, but definitely not least, is Estes park where we can explore the Rocky Mountain National Park, take a tour at the Stanley Hotel, and grab a bite at Antonio’s New York Pizza. And just to fill in some gaps, there is the 16th St. mall, art museums, aquarium, awesome restaurants like Izakaya Sushi Den, a Rockies game in Denver; Pearl Street Mall and the Rio in Boulder; and all my favorite places close to home like the Butterfly Pavilion, Ana’s Mexican Restaurant, and Hana Matsuri Sushi. Come visit! I have a place you can stay!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Mother. Looking back I can see the examples my Mom set for me as a struggling single mother. She never gave up, never made excuses, and always worked very hard. She not only worked hard at her jobs, she worked hard on herself and her own self-esteem. She showed strong independence and bravery by moving us to Florida all by herself with no job yet and no place to live. Within a week of moving, she had both. She is fearless and strong and set an amazing example for me.
I also draw so much inspiration from the guests I have on my podcast (Without Regret the Podcast) who have overcome huge challenges and thrive today. Everything from depression, addiction, physical abuse, mental abuse, financial abuse, cancer, human trafficking and more.
