Meet Ashton August | Entrepreneur, Author, Wellness Expert, Yoga + Meditation Guide

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashton August and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashton, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work-life balance has swung from one extreme to the other and everything in between! What I’ve learned in the past decade of running my company YouAligned.com is that “work-life balance” doesn’t always mean a day-to-day or monthly balance. It means that we go through phases, chapters, eras – whatever you want to call them – of balance (or lack thereof).
There will be times in your life when you need to dig deep and give it everything you’ve got. There will also be times when you get to kick back, relax, and enjoy the show. There will be plenty of times where you land somewhere in between. That’s life for you.
Many people get caught up in believing they must somehow maintain perfect, unwavering balance between their work and personal life. To me this seems unattainable and just setting yourself up for disappointment.
Finding a sense of balance within these changes and chapters is the true focus. For me, that’s doing yoga and spending time with my inner circle, being in nature, and self-care that keep me balanced regardless of what whatever current chapter I’m in. These familiar practices act like an anchor for me in this ever-evolving life.

No it has not been easy. The late nights, the high stress, the pressure, the haters, the setbacks and endless challenges. And I’d do it again in a heartbeat. It’s all been worth it to reach the level of impact that we have. 🙂

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I love this! Acknowledging our support systems is so important because when one person succeeds, we all succeed and success is the result of a collective belief in and support of one’s vision.
SO with that said, I want to shout out my MOM who reads every single interview and article feature I do, and who has always supported and believed in me. She’s a badass, my best friend, and the person I call for everything – a good laugh, a good cry, and everything in between. 🙂 Also, motivational speaker and author Iyanla Vanzant. Her books have truly fueled my career – she’s a deep well of inspiration and a beacon of motivation for me. Iyanla, you have no idea who I am (lol), but I quote you in all of my books and I adore you. Thank you for the immense impact you have brought to so many.
