We had the good fortune of connecting with Pixie DaFairy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pixie, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been a creative as long as I can remember. As a kid I loved music and to sing, I loved art and theatre as well. I felt the most comfortable and myself within these certain creative spaces. And was naturally good at some things as well. Felt like a calling. I especially felt it the easiest to express myself thru creativity. With that, I one day decided to go all in.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It’s definitely still a process in the making but it has and hasn’t been easy if that makes sense. I decided when I was going to dedicate myself to my craft which is mainly modeling and music. I didn’t get to where I am without a lot of people though, good and not great experiences are for sure tied to my evolution. My love for the art thought definitely kept me going as well as the inspiration I got from watching other great creatives known and underground. Also the biggest motivating factor is my son, Aubrey. I’ve learned that it can be an ugly process but those sort of bottoms and rough situations can be even more of a motivating factor to create your best work and to also go even harder. I feel like in a weird way I’ve already lived like 8 different lives in this one. That to me is almost like I’ve experienced different realms in some way. Which honestly gives me a beautiful and relatable story to tell thru my art forms. These experiences have taught me a lot about myself and what I’m capable of. Despite the discouragement I received, which I have definitely experienced a lot. Now at this time, I am excited to put out new visual art and music that I wouldn’t have thought I’d ever be comfortable enough to do even a year ago. New sounds and new trends to come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To be completely honest, one of the places I’d bring them to is a friends house in Montebello to drink and socialize with friends in the area. For a more personable social time. I spent a lot of time there doing that and always had a great time with my homies there. Im not as into the club scene as I used to be so we would probably also stop at a couple bars for a fun night out during that time like Agave, meadowlark, and one up. As for food, I think I would drive up the the Springs to show them Sofias Mexican food spot. Then maybe go to the Cheyanne Mountain Zoo while we were up there and feed the giraffes. I would also make sure to see what events were happening in Denver and end the trip with a show that my friends are throwing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to thank my friend group of artists, the shredders even the ones I may not interact with as much anymore. For seeing me, supporting me, and motivating me. Biggest shout out to Ralphy Sway for pushing me out of my comfort zone, inspiring me, and curating spaces and opening doors for me to continue to do what I love.
