We had the good fortune of connecting with Demian Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Demian, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting a business is a process of chaos and organization. Finding the balance is the really hard part. Like any business it will hard at first it takes time and its not for everybody. From self employed to running a company . A ton of moving parts all at once .
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
About my art… I guess my art is a mix of styles. Creatures, monsters, pin ups, skulls, peace signs, African and pre Hispanic art. Groovy funky bright and a tad odd.
I got in to art be being curious about the process of how things are made.
It wasn’t easy at all. I came up in a time in tattooing that was before the internet. Information was rare.
Tattooing (my main source of art) was very secretive. So many nights of finding whatever book you could and asking my peers and friends that would lend a helping hand.
The lessons learn have been so so many. Anything from customer service to how to say no. Patience for oneslef and others and the biggest is that no matter what money and fame ably get you so far.
True work comes from staying creative and surrounding yourself with people that are stoked on life.
I guess what i want people to know about me and my”brand” is that I’m just a regular person. Ive worked for years with all walks of life. I like to be available to all . Providing good quality work to any one that comes in regardless if your are a mom, Dr. ,lawyer , biker, ex con or have a shitty pass life . We are all human. I just have been lucky to create for a living.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Colorado provides so many cool things to do all the time. It’s very easy to find something cool to do with or with out a budget. I personally commute on a bicycle so I always like to take them on bike rides. I’m part of a local bicycle club called The Scorchers Since 1898. We cruise around town in the DCR (denver Cruiser Rides). We ride around town having a mini party and enjoying the cities night life .
