Hi Laura, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk-taking is an inherent part of entrepreneurship—it can be daunting, but it’s essential for growth and success. Strategic risk-taking means truly understanding your market, knowing the intricacies of your business, and being prepared for unpredictability. This mindset has been crucial in my entrepreneurial journey. Transitioning from a consistent and stable career in the medical field to starting my own aesthetics business was a significant leap, especially as a single mother and the sole provider for my family. With no clients to start, the stakes were high, and failure wasn’t an option.

This experience taught me the importance of managing stress and staying ahead of challenges. It also reinforced the value of trusting my instincts and decision-making process, even when others may have different opinions. Faith has been my steadfast companion throughout, giving me the strength and reassurance needed during uncertain times. In an industry that can be feast or famine, I trust that God will always provide, which has been key to my perseverance and resilience.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At NATIV Aesthetics & Co., we are incredibly proud to be the only Medically Based Headspa in Colorado. Our HeadSpa treatments are more than just luxurious—they are therapeutic experiences tailored to meet each client’s specific needs. Getting to where we are today has been a journey filled with challenges and triumphs. Entrepreneurship is a learning experience every single day. Sometimes you make decisions that lead to incredible success, and other times you learn valuable lessons from mistakes. The important thing is to grow from each experience. It’s easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to others, especially in such a competitive industry, but it’s essential to remind yourself that you are uniquely and beautifully you. Each of us brings something special to the table, and that uniqueness is what drives our success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d be thrilled to show them around our incredible state! We’d start by immersing ourselves in Colorado’s stunning natural beauty. One of my favorite spots is Rifle Falls, where you can marvel at three breathtaking waterfalls. For a more active day, we’d head to Frisco, where we could paddleboard, swim, and relax by the swim beach with a refreshing drink in hand.

Colorado also shines with its vibrant live music scene. We’d catch an unforgettable concert at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, which is a must-see for any music lover. We’d explore some of the many farmers markets and arts festivals that showcase the local culture and creativity.

When it comes to dining, I’m all about the ambiance as much as the food. We’d definitely check out some of our favorite restaurants, especially those with charming summer rooftop patios. The options are endless, and each place offers its own unique vibe.

From adventurous hikes to cultural festivals and delicious meals with stunning views, Colorado has something to make every moment special. It’s truly a place where adventure, culture, and fun come together!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my incredible children, who have been my biggest cheerleaders through every challenge and triumph. Their unwavering belief in me, especially during the difficult times, has kept me focused and motivated to keep pushing forward. I also want to recognize my closest friends, some of whom have stayed, while others have drifted away. The true ones are those who stand by you day in and day out, cheering you on without hesitation.

When you embark on a journey like entrepreneurship, you imagine that everyone you know will come flocking to support your business, but that’s often not the reality. Instead, it’s the people you meet along the way, those who share a similar vision, who truly become your support system. Their encouragement has been invaluable to my success. Surrounding myself with positivity and learning when to step away from negative influences has been key in navigating this often isolating journey. To my children and those steadfast friends, I owe so much of my story.
