We had the good fortune of connecting with Hallie Dantzler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hallie, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
After I was laid off, I spent several months applying for jobs in my field without any luck. So I decided to be my own boss! I took a thing -coffee- and combined it with my idea of running my own business. I wanted to create a business with my name on it to represent the pride I would and do have in my products. Hal’s Coffee was then born and I got very busy creating my business and brand. Hal’s Coffee is all about being sustainable, creating quality product without ever sacrificing quality for quantity, and making the world a better place than the day we entered it. My passion has always been in service and ensuring that everyone I cross paths with is a better person for doing so. I took all of my passions, best qualities, and desire to no longer work for corporate America and created Hal’s Coffee.
What should our readers know about your business?
Hal’s Coffee is a full service coffee shop on wheels and a cafe that serves Colorado! We carry everything from matcha to lattes to chai to hot chocolate to teas to espresso based beverages. We have decaf espresso available. You can find us all around Northern Colorado at events, catering special life events, in our cafe on south CSU campus in Fort Collins, and so much more! We love meeting your critters that you bring by the mobile unit and the cafe. Our focus is on sustainability and supporting local business. All of our consumables are recyclable or compostable. Hal’s Coffee is a safe space for all. All are welcome- no matter their stance on different topics. As long as everyone is respectful of each other, they are welcome to enjoy our delicious coffee. We look forward to every single person’s visit and hope every time you visit we make you smile.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my best friend visits we are eating local, drinking local coffee, going camping, seeing local music, getting tattoos, and hanging out in the sun. As cliche as it sounds for Fort Collins we are going to Horsetooth, for sure, for some lake time. We are eating Cafe Mexicali, Silver Grill, Empire Palace, Comet Chicken, DP Dough, and Mary’s Mountain Cookies. We are going to Bean Cycle, Hal’s Coffee, and The Cart for coffee. We are going to State Forest State Park for a short camping trip to enjoy some quiet time and fresh air. We are going to see Sorry Sweetheart play a show- probably in Denver. If we have time for tattoos we are either going to Story of My Life Tattoo or NoCo Tattoo Studio, both are excellent shops. A walk around old town would be in the books while out for food. There is so much to do in Northern Colorado that we could do anything and still have a great time, although I think those are some of the must dos and sees!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many people to recognize but we would be here all day if I named them all… The top 3 I have to give credit to today are my husband, my son, and my Grammy. My husband, Nathan, has been my rock for so long. He has been through paradise, hell, and everything inbetween with me. Nathan supports every crazy idea I have- including getting a puppy at the start of lock down, keep a flock of chickens in our backyard, and starting a business that explodes in growth within a year! My son, Harry, is my muse. He brings so much light into my world and motivates me to do my absolute best in everything I do every day. My Grammy, Lou Ray, is one of my guardian angels. She constantly shows up in ways of the universe (butterflies, very specific patio furniture, and crocs) to let me know that she is always with me. Before she passed, she told me that I am stronger than I know and was born to make a difference. That statement has helped me continuously make the effort to be the best person I can.
