What’s the right balance between work and non-work time? The traditional 9-5 has slowly disappeared with the emails and zoom and texting going far beyond traditional business hours. We asked members of our community to share with us how they think about work-life balance.

This is probably a typical trajectory, but at the start of my career, I was ALL about the hustle. I was willing to compromise just about everything in order to work, work, work—my overall health, the quality of my relationships, and the recreational activities that brought me joy. It was impossible for me to say “no” to opportunities, and I often low-balled my prices in order to prioritize an abundant workload. The work life balance was something that I struggled with in the beginning. Going from full time van life, getting to fill my days doing whatever my heart desired, to a full time work schedule was definitely an adjustment. Even though Earth & Skye doesn’t really feel like “work” it is a 24/7 commitment, making it hard to be able to separate life from work. I give my whole heart, soul and then some into my business. Work life balance has been something that I have honestly struggled with as I’ve gotten older. It was so easy for me to pour my soul into my photography business when I lived at home, didn’t have other responsibilities, and didn’t have to worry about bills or paying for things. That’s when my photography business first started. As I’ve grown up more, moved into my own apartment, had to start paying bills… it’s been harder to balance.
