We had the good fortune of connecting with Kacie Aversa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kacie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor behind my success is networking within the creative community in Colorado. Going to styled shoots, trading time and photos with models, and working beside other fellow photographers. These have all helped me create more content, books more clients and create a sense of community for myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Growing up I was always really into fashion and modeling and that is what sparked my interest in photography. In 2015 my parents bought me my first “big girl” camera for my birthday and I started styling my friends and having them model for me. I moved to Colorado almost 4 years ago and that’s when I decided to make my passion into a business. I’ve been networking a ton to try and build my portfolio and make it stand out to potential clients. It hasn’t been the easiest since that darn imposter syndrome likes to creep up from time to time but I have a really great support system that keeps me on my feet and moving forward. I would say I’m the most excited to keep building my business and expanding my portfolio. This past year has been my most successful year as a business owner and I recently started shooting weddings and elopements which has been super fun and exciting!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love taking my friends who visit to Red Rocks Amphitheater and doing a little hike there. Then grabbing lunch in Golden at the Golden Mill after. I also love taking them to paddle board at Chatfield State Park and having a picnic. For dinner I would take them to Sushi Den. We would also brewery hop to all the amazing breweries Denver has to offer. I couple of my favorites are Platt Park Brewery and Breckenridge Brewery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out two people that have helped me on my photography journey. First I would like to shoutout my wonderful boyfriend Leo. He really encouraged me to take my passion for photography and make it a business. So much so he even bought me a grand new camera for Christmas one year. He helps me behind the scenes with the business side of things and over all is just very encouraging. Second, I would like to shoutout Brie Pines Photography. We met through a Facebook group and traded photos with each other. Since then I’ve tagged along with her to weddings to get wedding photography exposure, since I was fairly new to that scene at the time, and she was always willing to answer any business questions I had. We actually have become pretty good friends along the way too!
